The National Archives will host online professional development this summer

The National Archives offers many excellent resources for history teachers. For example, they recently published a new guide to understanding perspectives on primary sources. And this summer the National Archives will host a free online professional development event for teachers.

The first event is from July 12 to 14. This is the Truman Library Teachers Conference. The theme of the conference is Dr. The character and decision making of the President. The conference will include presentations by representatives of ten presidential libraries and museums.

The second show is a series of titles We rule: Civics for all in the United States. The series has two sessions for primary school teachers and two sessions for middle school / high school teachers. Date and details of each session are available here.

The Three branch institutes This is the third of NARA’s summer professional development opportunities for teachers. The event will focus on new ideas and resources for learning about the three branches of government. The event will be held from 2nd to 4th August through Zoom. Registration is free, but you must register by July 17. Registration forms can be found here.
